I couldn’t think of a title that wasn’t either cliche, irrelevant, or just plain lame, so the title reflects exactly how I’m feeling about the title.
ANYWAYS…today was my first day at Microsoft! As far as orientations go it was just fine. Started at 8 with paperwork and security badge pictures, and then we got placed into groups based on our orgs (organizations within the company.) My group was obviously the most awesome and fun; we weren’t all designers, but we also weren’t lawyers, HR, or other boring, but necessary, orgs. The first part of the day was a lot of listening to a woman talk about Microsoft, but we did have a 9-part activity that sent us all over the campus (there are so many buildings that it’s referred to as campus, just like in college) to different areas, including lunch at The Commons. After that we played a game, and my team was AMAZING, mostly because we were cracking jokes and making fun of everyone the whole time, and should have won, because we answered so many questions right, but the lady keeping score wasn’t subtracting points for wrong answers like she was supposed to, so we came in 3rd out of 12 teams. Post-game, a different woman talked to us about our benefit options, and then we all went downstairs, grabbed out security badges, and peaced out…until tomorrow.
I am so excited and thankful to be starting this new chapter in my life. Thank you to everyone who has supported and loved me through this whole process. You guys are amazing!
