[133] Adapting Impatience

133

Since moving to Seattle, I’ve had access to DVR. I love it, but it’s made me exceptionally impatient when it comes to watching TV. Since all my shows have ended for the season, I’ve been watching a whole lot more commercials. I’m not used to this, and I don’t know how I handled all those commercials before DVR. During the week I don’t have a ton of time to watch my shows, so I purge until the weekend when I binge watch. The best part about the binge is that I can skip through all the commercials. But yesterday I didn’t have anything recorded, so I had to watch TV live, commercials and all. I did find a way to work around it by pausing live TV, and doing something else until enough time has elapsed where I can skip over all the stuff I don’t want to watch. It’s a little sad.

[132] Time

132

Shit’s about to get philosophical up in here.

Time…where does it go? No, but really, where does it go? I moved here yesterday and tomorrow is the last day of May. What? ALSO, why do some days seem like they’ll never end, but others go by far too quickly? I understand that sometimes it’s related to what’s going on, but that’s not always the case. Yesterday I was super busy and the day dragged. Today I was super busy but the day went by so fast…I actually lost track of time and stayed later than I had planned on. When you lose track of time, where does it go? I’m trying to understand, but I just don’t think I ever will. On the bright side, I think the next 8 days and 16 hours will go by very quickly…hopefully.

P.S. Isn’t that the most perfectly shaped cloud?!

[131] So…yeah

131

I feel bad I haven’t actually written about something of substance in a while. Today I got slammed with work that I at least knew was coming my way. Ideally I’d LOVE to have it done before I go home next week, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

On a side note, after I finished my spinach quesadilla, I continued to each the peach salsa, that I was using as a condiment, right out of the jar. So delicious.

[129] Fast Forward

129

My brain is focused on one thing: going home in under 12 days. I wish I had something else to write about, but all I’ve done today is finish season 4 of Arrested Development (I stayed in bed until 12:30pm to accomplish this), went grocery shopping, and made some cheddar potato soup. I also ate some of that soup, to make sure it tasted good, of course.

[128] Hole Digging

128

I didn’t actually dig a hole today, but I watched my uncle dig a hole from an outdoor swing. We had brunch at the house with one of their friends, and then just hung out. The knot in my neck is worse which means I’ll be scheduling a massage at some point this week. In order to ease my pain, I started watching the new season of Arrested Development. Stay tuned for my reaction…I still don’t know how I feel about it. BUT there are only 12 days 16 hours 17 minutes and counting until I’m home with my east coast family.

[126] Will Power

126

One of the hardest things to do is go to the gym on a Friday, after an 1.5 hour meeting at the end of the day, before a three day weekend. I almost talked myself out if it, but I willed myself to go and had a very good workout. I’m now housing a bowl of shrimp scampi and asparagus. I deserve it.

P.S. My gym has a disco ball that they light up on Fridays, does yours?

[125] An Artful Office

125

I told you I was going to plan out my office wall last night with the art that came in the mail, and I did. I even took a picture of my layout for reference this morning as I was hanging everything up. I’m pretty impressed with myself considering everything in hanging on push pins, and I didn’t have a ruler to measure spaces. Besides that, it was a pretty uneventful day, and I’m totally ok with that.

[124] Mid-Week Sort of Surprises

124

In the past 124 days, I’ve become very fond of snail-mail, particularly packages. When I got my own office a few weeks back, which I’ll actually have to share with an intern soon, the first thing I thought was, “Oh crap, my office mate will be taking all the stuff on the walls with her.” That meant that I needed to call my mom and ask her to ship the boxes still at my parent’s which contained all the artwork and frames I’ve acquired over the past couple years. Luckily it was only 2 boxes and I packed them up real good before I left.

WELL, those boxes arrived today! I’ve been having kind of a crappy day, mostly because I think I’m coming down with something, but these sort of surprises made me feel a little bit better. I will now proceed to spend the rest of the night arranging and rearranging all the frames on the floor until I’m satisfied with the configuration, and then tomorrow I’ll hang everything up in my office before the intern moving into my office has any say!
