[233] Normailities

233

Football is back, and I could not be happier (except if the Giants weren’t embarrassing themselves right now.) Late summer/fall is one of my favorite times of the year, but it’s a little different this particular year. For instance, I started watching football at 10am this morning, which, even though it initially seemed a little weird, I actually love. I slept in a little bit, had a late breakfast, a cup of tea, and was done with the first round of football by 1pm. Even though the weather ended up being beautiful today, I wasn’t really in the mood to do anything outside so I continued to watch football and make a bunch of food for the week. Another thing that I’ll be missing out on this fall is my family’s traditional apple and pumpkin picking. We’ll usually make a half day of it, eat lots of apple fritters, drink even more apple cider, and trek through a patch of pumpkins in order to pick our own. And with those 50 or so pounds of apples comes apple pie, apple crisp, and apple sauce. Today I made apple crisp, but not with apples that I picked myself. I had to call my mom for her recipe for the apple crisp topping, and now I have it memorized, and stored away in an email in case I forget. Even though I can’t share the apple crisp I made with my family, I still feel like one of them is going to catch me eating huge chunks of the topping and shoo me away.

[194] Summer Rain

194

At home, rain in the summer is an almost daily experience. Here in Seattle, if it rains in the summer it’s a total downer, but I don’t see it that way. You know when you’re away from something for a while and you forget about it, and then you experience it again and remember how much you love and miss it? That’s how I feel about the way it smells in the spring and summer when it rains. There’s just something so fresh and comforting about that smell. I can’t even accurately describe what it smells like, but you all know what I’m talking about.

[186] Hearing Silence

186

I can’t get enough of this perfect Pacific Northwest weather. I was so excited to eat lunch outside until I remembered I had a meeting. I did finish up my work a little early and left myself with enough time to catch an hour of rays. Usually when I lay out in the sun I’ll put on some music but today I didn’t. I thoroughly enjoys the sounds of nature and planes flying overhead. After my bake in the sun I went for one of my walk/sprints and now I’m just sitting outside relaxing. A girl could get used to this.

P.S. I turned away from the leaves, pictured above, for less than a minute to try and take a picture of a spider. When I turned back to the leaves to take more pictures, the sun was no longer hitting them. Snagged that picture at the perfect moment I guess!

[155] A Reason to Shave My Legs

155

With summer officially here, and the sun shining in full force, I have a reason to shave my legs. The exact reason is dresses. There are definitely other, possibly more important, reasons, but that’s one of the main ones. I will definitely lament the days of not having to shave for weeks, but all the cute things that come with summer, like dresses and boys, I’ll get over it rather quickly.
